Gospel, feast days and vocations week remind us of God's invitation
by Sister Lynne Marie Simonich
On this 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time the Sadducees question Jesus about the resurrection. They did not believe in the resurrection and wanted to trick Jesus in answering them.
Jesus is not easily cornered and tells them that there is no need for marriage in heaven. Heaven is a whole different world! He tells them that those who experience the resurrection are “like angels” – they are the “children of God”. What a beautiful image of heaven!
November is a good month to remember our loved ones, families and friends, who have gone before us. Our Gospel is one of hope – hope that we will all be united one day with all the angels and saints.
This Sunday also begins National Vocation Awareness Week. It is a week to promote vocations to priesthood, diaconate and the consecrated life and to pray for those considering one of these vocations. We probably all know a priest, deacon or religious Sister or Brother who inspired our lives, gave us hope, and now shares in God’s eternal life. Take time today to pray for them as well.
What a great suggestion!! I have memories of many wonderful religious who inspired me! The list would be too long! Thanks ?
