As Lent begins, the Gospel encourages us to have faith and fidelity
by Sister Laura Zelten
The Gospel for First Sunday of Lent is one of optimism and change. It encourages us to have faith in the Good News and to join in the arrival of God's kingdom. This message reminds us that no matter how far we may have strayed from God, we always have the opportunity to turn back and witness His transformative power in our lives.
While in the desert, Satan tempts Jesus to abandon his mission and take the easy way out. Despite the challenge, Jesus remains steadfast in his commitment to his Father's will. This teaches us about the nature of temptation in our own lives and the importance of remaining true to our beliefs, even in the face of adversity.
Sunday's Gospel gets us started on our Lenten journey. It is time to commit to prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.
- What needs to be cleansed and renewed in my life?
- What can I do to show my love for God's world?
- Is there a specific transformation which I am hoping for during this Lenten season?
Thanks so very much! My Sister, Annie and I are hanging in there. Your Prayers are greatly appreciated! Thanks so much from the bottom of our hearts. Wish I could return home to your location sometime, but that too is not possible right now. You are definitely in my Thoughts and Dailly Prayers.
