Feast of the Holy Family

Their faithfulness to God and one another  are  perfect examples for us

by Renae Bauer

Sunday’s readings for the Feast of the Holy Family beautifully illustrate how we are to live in relationship with one another and with God. As we listen to our readings we will hear these words: Honor, prayer, kindness, compassion, humility, gentleness, patience, love, forgiveness, peace, gratitude and obedience.

The Holy Family embodies all that God asks of us followers. Gaze upon the picture and contemplate how each member of the Holy Family shows us the above characteristics. Then gaze into a mirror and consider how you do, as well.

Greetings & Merry Christmas to all!

I wasn't able to make it home to the Green Bay Area, but was able to do two (2) "Face-Times" with Mary Lou at Anna's Care Facility and at my Sister Annie who turned 91 yesterday & still lives in my Boyhood Home.

The descriptors in your Refection were perfect for the Jacob's family as I grew up there. With the Pandemic, the Jacob's Family has worked even harder to stay close. Bless you for your thoughts! May 2021 bring us the begging of a "New Peace!"

Although the great majority of us reading these posts grew up in 'traditional families,' with a mixture of both healthy and unhealthy experiences, I have learned ever-so much from 'non-traditional families,' and have actually known the 'genuine affection' in these families that the following passage speaks of.

Their 'genuine affection' made ever-more strong and holy because of the courage and compassion they have developed in being true to themselves - and 'gifting' the other/s to be true to themselves, as well, "taking great delight and knowing true joy in honoring the authentic goodness and blessedness of each and every other," as is described here.

The demonstration of love and its healing, life-affirming, life-giving powers, emerges and shines through many types and kinds of 'families' these days. I think Pope Francis wants us, as the family of humanity, to recognize this, too.

“Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.”
