Teaching has taken many forms for Sister Sharon

Sister Sharon Lasee

Sister Sharon Lasee was born the third of eleven children to Beatrice and Gerald Lasee of West De Pere. She attended St. Boniface School where, in first and second grades, she fell in love with the Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross. Sisters Theophane, Paulette and Monica along with her parents helped foster her vocation. She completed her studies at West De Pere High School before entering the community in 1962.

After her first profession of vows Sister Sharon taught in seven parish schools in the Green Bay Diocese. She also taught religious education for these parishes and continues to teach religion at Holy Cross in Bay Settlement.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in education from St. Norbert College, De Pere, and a master’s degree in pastoral ministry from Loyola University, Chicago.

Sister’s teaching experience extends beyond the traditional classroom. She’s enjoyed working with children in the Super Summer Program in Oneida during the 1980s. For three summers she worked with Lou and Karina O’Malley at Crossroads Homeless Shelter in Green Bay. Additionally, she has served her Community as assistant vocation director.

In her last full-time ministry, Sister Sharon worked with children with autism at Red Smith School, Green Bay. She described the work as challenging and rewarding.

Sister Sharon looks forward to her annual retreat as well as other religious opportunities offered by the Diocese and the Norbertine Center for Spirituality in De Pere. She treasures time with her Sisters in Community sharing in prayer, work and fun. These elder years have provided more time for contemplative prayer, reading, and walking outside where she witnesses God’s beauty and creation.
