Sister Marietta Samz

Sister Marietta Samz

Being inspired by the Sisters of St. Francis at Mishicot and the Sisters of St. Mary's Springs Academy in Fond du Lac, Sister Marietta entered the Bay Settlement Community in 1956. She is also grateful to her parents, Frances and Oscar Samz, and family for supporting her in her call to religious life.

Her teaching ministry of 44 years was in the Green Bay diocesan schools and with the Sacred Heart Southern Missions in Tunica, Miss. At present her ministry is Community receptionist at the Motherhouse. In her free time, Sister Marietta enjoys taking care of nature, from feeding birds and growing herbs to participating in the University of Kansas' annual Monarch butterfly count (Read "Caring for Creation goes hand-in-hand with helping Monarch scientists"). She is thankful to God for being given the privilege to minister to many children, their parents and Community and for the countless ways they have touched her life.
