Anti-human trafficking toolkits provided to parishes

Parish Anti HTtoolkit _opt

(Feb. 8, 2016) -- You’ve heard of drug trafficking and arms trafficking but have you heard of human trafficking?

Human trafficking uses threat, coercion, abduction or fraud to recruit and/or transport persons who are then exploited for sexual or labor purposes. This heinous, multi-billion dollar crime happens everywhere including rural and urban regions here and abroad.

Without a doubt, human trafficking is grave violation of human dignity which is why the Wisconsin members of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious decided to act. A task force, including representatives from our Community, developed a Wisconsin-based toolkit to help parishes raise awareness of human trafficking and to act locally. All five diocesan Bishops approved the kit; copies were mailed in February and March to Wisconsin’s 755 parishes.
